Fall Update: Videos and New Features

There’s never a dull moment at the offices of Best Attendance. We’ve launched several initiatives this summer that are all underway. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Fall Update

How-To Videos

We’ve created a series of how-to videos that provide a step-by-step walk-through of each area of the application, from the basics of adding members, to advanced topics such as getting analytics and creating a group structure for your organization. Our hope is that these videos make it easier for new users to learn the software, as well as uncover some of the hidden features that more advanced users might not even know about.

New Features: Optional Events and New Sign In Options

We’ve just added several new features to the software which really take it up to the next level and make it enterprise-ready.

Prior to this release, there was no way to create optional events. For each event, you had to specify at least one group that was required to attend that event. Well, in the real world, this isn’t always the best approach. A lot of times, you have optional events. You’d still like members to be able to sign in, but you don’t necessarily want absences to count against anyone. This new feature is basically a software version of putting up a poster for a pot luck this Sunday, and getting a list of names of who’ coming.

We also have new sign in options, making it even easier to set up an attendance kiosk and walk away. On the Take Attendance page, we’ve always had an option to lock out other areas of the application so that students could not see each others’ information. But it was still possible for students to see each other’s names and even sign each other in. We know provide options for group leaders to accept ONLY barcodes while in lock-down mode, which really improves the security of the system.

Social Sharing

Since June, we’ve redoubled our efforts to share the myriad free resources that we provide on our website, but which many people don’t know about. We’ve been having a lot of fun getting involved with conversations on Twitter, Pintrest, Facebook, reddit, Quora, and many blogs over the summer.

More Coming

We have several new initiatives already underway, including a new development sprint to roll out some features that have been on our to-do list for a long time. Stay tuned for updates!
