Spring Growth

Growth

It’s spring, and that means that things are starting to grow! Except where I live in Minnesota, where we’ve enjoyed one April blizzard after another. As I write this, I’m looking at almost a foot of snow on the ground outside.

But even if the plants aren’t yet growing, Best Attendance is. We’ve just hired three additional contractors who will be helping us to create world-class software this summer. Our summer internship program is starting up on Monday, and we’ve also hired a Quality Assurance engineer to make sure that our software is squeaky clean before it gets to our customers. Our third contractor will be helping us spread the word about Best Attendance to people and organizations who could benefit from it but haven’t yet heard of us.

As the founder of this business, my role has evolved rapidly since the launch of our web-based application over two years ago. At the beginning, when the business was small, I was very hands-on and directly involved in every aspect of the business. I was a jack of all trades by necessity.

Because of our growth, my focus is moving away from operational details and moving more toward process building. Instead of doing everything as a one-off job, we now have dependable, repeatable process for many areas of our business, both from a technical perspective and a customer service perspective. Building these processes has not been trivial, and it has taken time away from time that could have been spent on marketing or building new features. However, now that we have a solid procedural framework in place, it will allow us to iterate even more quickly in the future.

What Does This Mean For You?

These changes mean four main things for our customers:

  1. We can build more features.
  2. We can build features faster.
  3. We can make sure that the features we build are solid and error-free.
  4. We can respond more quickly to customer requests.

If you’ve been with us for a while, you know that we are continually improving our product. You can expect to see even more, faster, and higher quality improvements over the course of the summer. We have some really cool features queued up in our development pipeline, and we can’t wait to see what you think about them! They’ll all be announced on this blog, of course, when they are released.
